First of all, I would like to announce with great pleasure
the enlargement of the Editorial board of the Neuroendocrinology
Letters with the following distinguished colleagues who have
gratiously accepted my invitation to join the Board of Editors:
Prof.
Pierre Corvol, MD,

de France, Paris; Member of the French Academy of Sciences
Paris, France.
Prof.
Haluk Kelestimur,

Prof.
Pierre J. Neveu

From
this year onwards the Neuroendocrinology Letters will be published
by the Foundation of Integrated Sciences (FIS). At
the same time, the International Journal of Prenatal and Perinatal
Psychology and Medicine comes under the banner of the Integrative
Prenatal and Perinatal Sciences.
In
keeping with the advancement of our fields, we are very pleased
at the large interest in founding the European Neuroimmunology
Society (ENIS) and its affiliation with the Neuroendocrinology
Letters. More information about this new development will
be found on the pages of this Journal and also on our Website
www.nel.edu in the near future.
The
expansion of the Aim and Scope of the Neuroendocrinology Letters
with Human Ethology has proved to be very fruitful and one
of the highlights of this integration has been the inauguration
of the Zdenek Klein Award for Human Ethology.
The Zdenek
Klein Award for Human Ethology honors the work and
life of the late Zdenek Klein, and is granted annually for
the best work in the fields of Evolutionary Psychology and
Human Ethology, with special emphasis on research within the
area of Integrative Neuroendocrinology and Human Ethology
that has been submitted to the Neuroendocrinology Letters
(NEL) in the current calendar year. The award was founded
in 2001, under the auspices of the Neuroendocrinology Letters,
together with the Club of Friends of the Neuroendocrinology
Letters and the International Journal of the Prenatal
and Perinatal Psychology and Medicine. Submitted papers will
be considered by an anonymous commission on behalf of myself
as the Editor-in-Chief. Winners of the award will be invited
(a few days) to the Charles University in Prague in conjunction
with the Mayor of the City of Prague and the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Fellowships and grants are planned for the future.
Award winning studies will be published annually in the October
issue of the NEL.

2002 we will publish a Special Issue on Human Ethology
/ Evolutionary Psychology with contributions from most
distinguished scientists in these fields worldwide. More information
will be released in the Press Room at www.nel.edu in May 2002.
As
I have previously announced in NEL Vol. 23 No.1 February 2002,
there are two NEL Supplements currently in preparation:
The first one, edited by Prof. Michal Karasek entitled Melatonin:
Clinical Significance and Therapeutic Application
is published along with this April issue of the NEL (Vol.
23 suppl.1, 2002).
The second NEL Supplement is scheduled for June 2002
as Proceedings of the International Symposium at the University
of Cologne, Germany May 2-3, 2002, entitled Light,
Endocrine Systems and Cancer - Facts and Research Perspectives
(Vol. 23 suppl. 2, 2002).

I
encourage all of you to take an active part in the further
