Effect
of Naloxone on Immunoreactive Parathyroid Hormone in Cerebrospinal
Fluid and Plasma in Sheep by Georg Bühler, Svetla Balabanova & Julian Rosenthal
Abstract:
In
the present study the effects of naloxone on parathyroid hormone
(PTH) as well as total calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) concentrations
in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of sheep were investigated.
Blood and CSF samples had been obtained simultaneously at intervals
following naloxone administration. CSF and plasma PTH were determined
by radioimmunoassay (RIA). The results show that naloxone provoked
a decrease of PTH concentrations in CSF, whereas plasma PTH
levels remained approximately unchanged. No changes of Ca and
Mg in plasma and CSF were observed. These results suggest that
PTH participates, at least partly, in the effect of naloxone.
