Melatonin
Is Elevated in Highly Gifted Musicians by Marianne Hassler & Derek Gupta
Abstract:
21
creative musicians attained significantly higher melatonin values
than 29 controls. Mean age of male and female subjects was 19,16
and 18,77 years, respectively. Melatonin was measured in blood
serum between 08.00 and 09.00. Results were discussed in the
context of differences between musicians and non-musicians reliably
emerging from all testings, whether endocrinological parameters,
brain activity, or neuropsychological measures were used.
