The
Clock and the Mirror - New Vistas for Melanocortins by Fleur
L. Strand
Abstract:
Specific
structural and conformational modifications of the melanocortins
result in selectivity for different melanocortin receptors,
a discrimination that can be correlated with their differential
effects on discrete behavioral responses (Adan et al. 1994;
Hirsch et al. 1984) and on many physiological phenomena. However,
the many important actions that have not, as yet, been correlated
to specific MCRs indicate that it is likely that additional
MCRs are yet to be discovered.
