Activities
in the Early and Late Development of the Chick Embryo

Abstract:
In
this paper, we studied the characteristics of N-acetyltransferase
(NAT) in the retina of chick embryos on the day 8 and 18 of
development. Biochemical properties of the enzyme on day 8 are
similar to those of the enzyme on day 18. Thus, dependence on
protein concentration, pH, temperature, and Km exhibited similar
values. The only difference found was the regulation by lighting
conditions. While retinal NAT on day 8 is not affected by light
exposure, the enzyme on day 18 is significantly depressed by
light.
